The picture we chosen to characterize this contest exhibits a lizardfish with open mouth revealing a shock. “It appeared that the lizardfish was making an attempt to swallow the opposite fish tail-first earlier than it received caught in its throat,” says Jack Pokoj who took this unimaginable shot. “Each fish appeared to be in some misery. Lizardfish are ambush predators and swim away if a diver will get too shut, so this behaviour was extremely uncommon. The lizardfish stored its mouth open as if it needed the fish inside its mouth to flee.”
