I painted this from a photograph I took on our final journey to Kingfisher Bay on Fraser Island, Australia. It was 6:24 am on the jetty, with the solar low on the horizon line, and when all of the great pastel colours had come out to play. A number of boats had been anchored alongside the shoreline and swayed on the glassy water. It could have been an ideal second to tug out a small canvas and brush and begin portray. However a photograph needed to do.
Quiet topics like this aren’t probably the most technically demanding to color. However they’re difficult within the sense there’s nothing to cover behind. You can not depend on any inherent complexity of the topic or placing worth distinction or bursts of vivid coloration.
